Hi Paul,

Ah, yes.  I understand, now.  Thanks.  I had tried "--debug" before, but when it didn't work I dropped this code in (which also didn't work in the immediate).  My real problem had been not specifying a valid value for the .display for the given module.

I verify explicitly that --debug works with 

obs_file/python/lsst/obs/file/processFile.py
